I analyzed Adobe's business structure, conducting an analysis of its strenghts
and weaknesses. The material learned in class informed the suggestions for improvements
included in the final presentation.
Produced a 5-minute video essay that forwards a historical argument about a specific
object of study in the realm of history of video games.
Object of Study:
Super Mario Bros. (1985)
Thesis:
Super Mario Bros. broke the cultural barriers between USA and Japan.
The 1980s were a difficult time from a political and economic perspective between the USA
and Japan. Despite this, the game Super Mario Bros. circulated in America and became
part of popular culture in the form of a very culturally specific (Japanese) product.
Production Team:
Angela Petrone
Project Timeframe:
11/10/2021 - 12/01/2021. This project was developed as part
of my HIST373 (History of Video Games) class at Illinois Tech, in Fall 2021.
Why viewers should care:
this was and still is a hugely influential and popular
game. I believe that analyzing the historical setting behind this game will reveal the
power of media in reshaping people’s perceptions of other cultures,
and how very different peoples can be very much into the same stuff.
